• What is the difference between drug abuse and drug addiction?
|
I am witing something freelance and just wondering if anyone can give me an addequite difference between drug abuse and drug addiction.
The definition of an addict is: 1. To cause to become physiologically or psychologically dependent on a habit-forming substance
2. To occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively
Definition of drug abuse: he use of illegal drugs or the inappropriate use of legal drugs. The repeated use of drugs to produce pleasure, to alleviate stress, or to alter or avoid reality (or all three).
The use of a drug for a purpose other than that for which it is normally prescribed or recommended.
the habitual misuse of a chemical substance
They are very similar definitions. Almost the same.
Why are people either classified as a drug abuser or a drug addict? Drug abusers don't usually get the intese care an addict does. Remember, the definition for addic includes psychological addiction... not just physical.

• How long does it take for a drug to leave the body?
|
I have been taking a drug called kava kava which is an herbal drug I don't know if anyone is familiar with it or not but a couple days after taking this drug I started having serious heart palpitations. I researched online and I see that this drug is known to cause heart palpitations. Do you think this drug is actually causing the palpitations that I am having and also how long does it take for this drug to leave the system so that I can stop having these side effects? I have been drinking lots of water to see if that helps.

• How to kill a Drug dealer both government dealers and street dealers (Psychological murder is against the law
|
With the recent spat of old school drugs dieing out in australia and new drugs are on the street which today is killing children and adults alike is it wise to take the war to street level and let parents kill drug dealers in the street as there is no law that stipulates that a drug dealer commits murder knowly without remorse both (physical murder and psychological murder is the biggest threat to men ,women and children) .The goverment instituions also commit psychological murder and doctors should or can be held for murder). Crack ,meth, herion, alcohol, ecstacy and government aproved drugs from the pharmacy all can be used to commit psychological and murder and a life term in prison for drug dealers and government doctors and private firms who damage the minds of people through drugs.More people die from government approved drugs than any thing .To make money other people make people sick.

• What does drug intervention actually mean?
|
I've heard a lot of people talk about drug intervention and I don't have any idea about it. I am interested to know because one of my family members is a victim of drug abuse. We are planning to make him go under rehab, but we don't know how to do it.

• What is the drug/chemical used when putting a dog to sleep?
|
We just had to put one of my mother's dogs down today due to congestive heart failure. I was wondering, and can't seem to find the answer elsewhere, what the drug/chemical they used to euthanize her. They used a sedative first, but the actual drug that stopped her function was purple in color. Anyone know what it is? I'd like to think it was painless, but I'd like to do my own research!

• What happens when you get a failed drug test with an employer?
|
Just got the shock of my life on my answering machine. My drug test was "rejected". Does this mean Failed? Im stoned? Im just a family man in my mid 40s and have never used drugs in my life. I dont even drink booze. I havent taken any prescription drugs or even over the counter in 6 months. I cannot believe it. I fly back to my hometown to get a job to start immediatly and I get this. Im taking another one but Ill at the least be unemployed waiting for another 3 weeks. How accurate are these things? Im guilty of too much caffiene in my jumbo travel cup and shouldnt smoke Marlboro's. I support Lowe's efforts for a drug-free workplace, but geez!! Get a new laboratory contract. Im as squeaky clean as they come.
